SYDNEY, N.S. — Charlotte Street brimmed with life on Saturday afternoon as the Downtown Sydney Street Festival returned.

More than 100 people passed through the newly revitalized section of Charlotte Street for the festival, which featured 30 vendors, two food trucks and several kids’ games. The longtime event was held despite construction projects scattered throughout downtown — including on another section of Charlotte Street near the festival.

The vibrant crowd was a pleasure to see for Michelle Wilson, the Sydney Downtown Development Association’s executive director and a festival co-organizer. She’s been involved with the event for more than 15 years.

“There are kids everywhere and they’re having so much fun. Our vendors are enjoying it. A couple of businesses came down to say how great it was,” she said.

The festival was “a bit of a test” for Wilson and her team this year, as they set up on the new section of Charlotte Street for the first time.

“As far as I know, it’s been an awesome day.”
